Larry Nitz, GM executive director of hybrid powertrain engineering, discusses the Saturn VUE's Plug-In lithium-ion battery during the [http://plugin2008.com ''Plug-In 2008'' conference] in San Jose.  The lithium-ion battery allows the VUE to double its fuel economy for about 20 miles. Greenlighted for production, the Saturn VUE Plug-In is an extension of GM's two-mode hybrid system taken to the next step.

Currently, GM doesn't have any production plug-in vehicles, but will debut two different models in the next two years. A [[Electric Reveal|Saturn VUE Two-Mode hybrid]] is expected to debut in late 2009 while the [[Chevrolet Volt Leads General Motors Into Its Second Century|Chevy Volt E-REV (extended-range electric vehicle)]] will appear a year later.<br>
