Is the Volt Real or What
Question 1: Is this car a publicity stunt or a preview of actual product?
Question 2: Who should answer Question 1 . . . GM or the driving/blogging public?
We ask the questions because some people just don’t seem to believe the Chevy Volt will go into production. Now, the GM team is about to show the world just how serious they are about the Volt.
Plans are underway to test the battery packs that are intended for the Volt. Current model vehicles will be used as “mules” (early engineering vehicles), and will be modified to house the E-Flex technology.
Bottom line: there may still be work to be done, but the Volt is definitely moving toward the goal of production.
At the 2007 Los Angeles International Auto Show, GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz had a candid conversation with a group of doubting bloggers. They had some blunt questions about the Volt. And Bob didn’t try to dance around them. In fact, he gave the bloggers some pretty high level details about what’s in store.
