I have a new looking 1986 Pontiac Parisienne. This Parisienne was built in June of 1986 and is one of the last built in the 1980s intended to be sold by Pontiac dealers in the U.S. Dealers had been asking for a large car at the time to replace the discontinued ?B? body Bonneville.

The Parisienne was based on a Chevrolet Impala, but the 1986 has the Pontiac rear end styling which had been used on the Bonneville. This car is white with fender skirts and has a red base cloth trim. This particular car is important to me because I ordered it from Pontiac and I submitted the order from the Pontiac Zone Office in Memphis, Tennessee. During the Summer of 1986 it was placed in service as a company vehicle. It was purchased by my parents and I inherited it from them in 2001.

It is a nice memento of my time with the Pontiac Division and is still driven about five times a week during the Summer.

GM’s Century Cruise pays tribute to GM’s past and the passion owners have for their vehicles. On Saturday, August 16, 2008 this vehicle and more than 100 other classic GM vehicles will cruise from the GM Global Headquarters at the Renaissance Center up Woodward Avenue to the heart of the Woodward Dream Cruise in Royal Oak and the surrounding suburbs. One of these vehicles will be crowned “top cruiser” based on a text voting campaign.
