1986 Chevrolet Corvette

When I was growing up in Kansas, my grandfather and later my dad had a small Chevrolet dealership. I grew up working on Chevrolets and always wanted a Corvette, but either couldn't afford it or there were other family priorities. Finally, as empty nesters, I bought this Corvette from a friend and have been restoring it over the last five years. I hired into Buick Motor Division in 1969 and have worked for General Motors for almost 39 years. I will be retiring in October, so this is my final year with GM.
GM’s Century Cruise pays tribute to GM’s past and the passion owners have for their vehicles. On Saturday, August 16, 2008 this vehicle and more than 100 other classic GM vehicles will cruise from the GM Global Headquarters at the Renaissance Center up Woodward Avenue to the heart of the Woodward Dream Cruise in Royal Oak and the surrounding suburbs. One of these vehicles will be crowned “top cruiser” based on a text voting campaign.
