1967 Chevy Camaro
Personal story and photograph submitted by owner Bob Phillips
for participation in the the 2008 GM Century Cruise
I am a GM retiree. I started my career with GM in 1967 and retired in 1998. 1967 was the first year for the Camaro. I really wanted one back then but college expenses, my marriage, kids and a home were a higher priority. I finally got to buy my 1967 Camaro when I retired in 1998. The car is a RS convertible. I am the second owner. It is a totally original restored car. It has the original sheet metal, drivetrain and interior. I have participated in several Woodward Cruises....
GM’s Century Cruise pays tribute to GM’s past and the passion owners have for their vehicles. On Saturday, August 16, 2008 this vehicle and more than 100 other classic GM vehicles will cruise from the GM Global Headquarters at the Renaissance Center up Woodward Avenue to the heart of the Woodward Dream Cruise in Royal Oak and the surrounding suburbs. One of these vehicles will be crowned “top cruiser” based on a text voting campaign.
