“创新之父”凯特灵(Kettering) 发明并曾获奖的“铜冷却”发动机是一次从根本上改变内燃机的大胆尝试,即用冷气系统取代散热器以减少发动机部件和重量。

而这次发明从一开始就不顺利,在开发两年后都没有引起购买者的兴趣。斯隆在 1923 年断然决定摒弃这一项当时仅售出 300 辆汽车的铜冷却发动机发明。
