With the U.S. auto industry still growing and its own product lineup still limited to cars, [[Durant, William Crapo|Durant’s]] GM acquired two truck manufacturers:  [[Rapid Trucks|Rapid Motor Vehicle Company]], later re-named GMC Truck, and the lesser known [[Reliance Motor Car Company|Reliance Motor Truck Company]].  That same year, a Rapid truck was the first truck to climb Colorado’s famous [[A 1909 Rapid Truck Climbed Pike’s Peak|Pike’s Peak]].
