This booklet chronicles the history of machines from 1850 to 1950 and the role new technologies; such as electricity, inventions, iron and steel, petroleum, combustable gas, combustion engines, and research have played. It also describes the economic benefits of each new technology.
GM's Information Rack Service booklet publications were educational bulletins published for the benefit of GM workers which covered a vast number of subjects. These booklets were very common in the 1950s and were displayed to employees on a display rack.
