The Royal Family of Racing
With more than five decades of race experience, Rod Hall has proven to be the most successful racer in off-road history. This living legend’s notoriety extends to his exclusive membership in the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame. His relationship with HUMMER began in 1993 when Hall stepped into a HUMMER H1 for a test drive. After taking it for a spin, Hall was convinced that he had found the ultimate four-wheel-drive vehicle and has promoted the brand through his championship appearances ever since.
Just to present some of Rod Hall’s bragging rights: he is a 10-time winner of the internationally recognized Mint 400, 10-time winner of the Parker 400, 12-time winner of the Fireworks 250, has won 16 major class point championships in production 4-Wheel Drive vehicles and well over 160 major events – not to mention his record breaking achievements. One of the world’s most infamous and difficult off-road challenges is the Baja series, but Rod has delivered a record 19 Baja 1000 wins and 18 Baja 500 wins for team HUMMER. Rod Hall has sufficiently earned his royal title as the King of Baja.
Despite his impressive resume, Hall doesn’t bask in his glory. He remains humble by striving towards future championships and the coveted True Grit Award, awarded to the toughest off-road racer. At the age of 70, Hall continues as a competitive racer, regularly earning class wins and season championships. However, should Hall ever give up the driver’s seat, his two sons will pick up right where their father left off.
The Rod Hall Racing team, including Rod’s two sons, Josh and Chad, was developed to ensure continued success. Around thirty years ago, eldest Josh and his younger brother Chad combined their driving skills and win championships like the VORRA and HDRA races along with an overall points grand championship win. Consistency runs in the family as team members Josh and Chad take after their father. Josh Hall, is a four-time SCORE Baja 1000 winner and has 12 race victories out of his last 15 races. He currently drives a HUMMER H2 SUT in the Stock Full Class. Despite his younger age, Chad Hall is also a commanding threat to his competitors. He has recorded wins at the Parker 400, Nevada 1000, Silver State 300 and is a six-time victor of the SCORE Baja 1000. Chad currently drives the HUMMER H3 Alpha in the Stock Full Class.
