Oldsmobile Plant in Flint, Michigan, ca. 1987

Tell us your story >

In the early 1980s, when gas was at a premium, I put 2 school buses on for the Oldsmobile plants in Lansing, Michigan. They were painted blue and called the "Blue Goose" and employees rode in from the Lake Odessa and Ionia areas. The drivers were also employees, so the buses were parked until quitting time when everyone reloaded and went home. We had a little bit of problem with permits with Indian Trails and Greyhound, but all worked out.

That was our way of conserving energy then. The guys would relax and sleep on the way in and catch another forty winks on the way home!!
