Remembering
My husband, David Spenzer, was a dedicated employee at the General Motors Parma plant in Parma, Ohio. He kept putting off his retirement, and stayed for 32 years when he finally decided to retire. We enjoyed 5 months of retirement before he became ill with lung cancer, and died 6 months after he retired. In retrospect, he probably was happier working as long as he did, rather than leaving the job earlier than he did, because I believe the friendships and camaraderie he shared with the people he worked with was such a big part of his life that he would have missed it.
The one story I remember was the night (he worked 2nd shift), that the train came through the building and sent everyone running. It came right through the back of the building before it stopped. I am sure many people will remember it.
I hope you can use this.
