R. Dan Reid

Biography: R. Dan Reid is a Purchasing Manager with General Motors Powertrain. He was the first Delegation Leader of the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) and is a member of the American College of Health Care Executives.
He is best known as an author of QS-9000, ISO 9001:2000, the first ISO Technical Specification (TS) 16949, the first ISO International Workshop Agreement (IWA 1), which applies ISO 9000 to healthcare and the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) Business Operating Systems (BOS) for Health Care Organizations (HF-2). He also worked on the Chrysler, Ford and GM Potential Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Production Part Approval Process and Advanced Product Quality Planning manuals.
Reid, an ASQ Fellow and ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), has received awards including: 2007 and 1999 GM Chairman’s Award (Allison Divesture and Year 2000 Teams), 2006 Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) Healthcare Focus Group Chairs Award, 2005, 2004 and 1992 Cecil C. Craig Awards, ASQ Automotive Division, 2004 ASQ Automotive Division Quality Leader of the Year, 2003 Leadership Award from the European Quality Institute ISO9000 International Conference, 2002 AIAG Outstanding Achievement Award.
Currently he is a contributing author for the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Quality Progress, AIAG ActionLine magazines, the ISO 9000 Handbooks by ASQ and McGraw Hill.
Reid holds Masters Degrees from Central Michigan University and Christian International and a Bachelor's Degree from Western Kentucky University.
