My First Car
My first car was a 1992 red Geo Metro. It was a 3-cylinder and with $5 I could fill the tank and drive at least 300 miles! It was a dream!
The thing I remember most about that "Red Rocket" is driving from Detroit to Evansville, Indiana for college. Part of that 7-hour drive is hilly -- through the mountains in Kentucky. I would have to have the Geo red-lined, going 80-mph (it was shaking) to make it up the hill. And, more than one semi with hazard lights on would pass me going up that hill. But the Geo got me to and from school for 4 years safely, and cheaply!
As you can imagine, it was a bittersweet moment when I sold that car and upgraded to a Pontiac Sunfire. But, I have the memories and laughs to last a lifetime.
Since the Pontiac Sunfire, I've had 2000 and 2004 Pontiac Grand Prixs, a 2006 Pontiac G6 and my latest is a 2009 Saturn Vue XR. You can see that I'm a GM fan thru and thru!!
