GMnext Contributor Matt Kelly talks with Jeff Passmore, executive vice president of Candadian-based Iogen Corporation, during the GLOBE 2008 Conference in Vancouver. Iogen is a biotechnology firm specializing in cellulosic ethanol, which is made from the non-food portion of renewable feedstocks such as cereal straws and corn stover. Jeff discusses the challenges and steps being taken to incorporate mass adoption of this fuel source and the economic, independency and environmental opportunities GM FlexFuel vehicles provide.

The GLOBE series of events is dedicated to bringing together professionals from the environment sector. Every two years, corporate executives, government representatives, environmental senior managers, urban planners and financial executives meet to discuss emerging priorities and opportunities in the business of the environment.
The tenth in the series, GLOBE 2008 hosted 10,000 participants, 2,000 conference delegates, 400 exhibitors, 200 speakers and dozens of international delegations from over 70 countries. The Conference focused on major themes such as Corporate Sustainability, Energy and Environment, Finance and Sustainability, and Building Better Cities.
