GMnext Day

General Motors, turned 100 on 16 September 2008 and began its second century, focusing on the future of transportation.
Here is an overview of GM's birthday:
Global Broadcast
GMnext Day began at 8:00am EDT with a Global Broadcast Preshow followed by the live Global Broadcast at 8:30am EDT from GM's headquarters at the Renaissance Center in Detroit and from four additional GM locations: Rüsselsheim, Germany; Shanghai, China; Mexico City, Mexico and São Paulo, Brazil. The broadcast highlighted technologies, global products, GM leaders and future leaders from around the world, along with "a few newsworthy surprises." The broadcast was available for public viewing.
Virtual Chats
Beginning at 10:30am EDT, three GM executives (below) chatted with the world in the GMnext.com chat room about the day's events and what's next for GM. The chats were open to the public.

Future of Transportation: The Next 100 Years
At 1:30pm EDT, a number of industry experts participated in a discussion on the second century of personal transportation. Topics ranged from alternative fuels and advanced propulsion systems to government regulation and infrastructure. The discussion streamed live on GMnext.com. Visitors to the site were able to ask questions on real time.

Chevrolet Enthusiast Event
GMnext Day wrapped up with a Chevrolet Every Day Heroes event at 3pm EDT at the GM Renaissance Center that was open to the public.
National Corvette Museum Historic Motorama II
The Historic Motorama II caravan from the National Corvette Museum (NCM), which is comprised of one example from each of the 55 years of Corvette production, departed from the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Greeen, Kentucky on September 10th. People attending the GMnext Day activities on September 16th viewed the Corvettes before and after the official program, which were displayed outside the Detroit Renaissance Center (GM headquarters) in the Atwater Street parking lot.
