1970
- General Motors inaugurates a new assembly line at the São José dos Campos plant, for the production of a small passenger car.
1972
- September 12
- GM Terex do Brasil S.A. on Minas Gerais State starts its operations, producing tractors.
1973
- April 24
- GM do Brasil launches the Chevette two doors-the GM small car.
- October
- GM launches the Opala SS (4 cylinder) and automatic (4 and 6 cylinders).
1974
- March 26
- 50,000th Chevette produced in Brazil rolls off the assembly line.
- June 15
- General Motors starts operations at the Cruz Alta Proving Grounds.
1975
- March 1
- The first batteries with plastic box are produced.
1976
- February 26
- The 1 millionth Chevrolet comes off the assembly line.
- March
- The pick-up Chevy 4 is launched.
- March 24
- 200,000th Chevette produced.
- April 6
- The 1 millionth engine is produced at the São José dos Campos plant.
- June 26
- The first Chevrolet truck is produced with a Detroit Diesel engine.
- December 3
- The Detroit Diesel Allison do Brasil plant is inaugurated in São José dos Campos.
1977
- March 4
- The 10,000th engine is produced at the Detroit Diesel engine plant.
- June 8
- The 1,250,000th vehicle is produced at the São Caetano do Sul plant.
1978
- September 26
- The Waste Water Treatment is inaugurated at the São José dos Campos plant.
1979
- April
- GM do Brasil starts the "Consórcio".
- September
- Ethanol car sales begin.
- December 31
- GMB reaches the first month sales record compare to previous year (10,050 vehicles) and the year's sales record (208,131 vehicles).
