- GM announces the construction of a new plant in the city of São José dos Campos.
- June
- First Chevrolet Truck 100% made in Brazil comes off the assembly line.
1958
- July
- The first pick-up Chevrolet 3.100 it is produced – later C14 or C15.
- December 4
- The first engine made in Brazil comes out off the São José dos Campos plant assembly line – in construction.
1959
- March 10
- General Motors São José dos Campos Industrial Complex inauguration ceremony.
