From Korea to GM

I was there

Delco Radio Kokomo plant, 1956

Very simple story. After being in WWII, I was called to the Korean conflict. After discharge, my wife and I came back to Indiana. No job...no nothing. I had lost nine years of seniority on the railroad.

One FINE day I went to Kokomo, Indiana and waited in line on Home Avenue at the old administration building. I got a job and it was the beginning of a life of security. I retired 35 years later and now have been retired 21 years.

My wife has passed away, but she too worked at Delco 28 years. We educated one son as far as a masters degree and had it not been for GM, I'm sure my life would have been a lot more difficult.
