EDS
General Motors acquired Electronic Data Systems Corporation (EDS) in 1984. At the time, it was one of the largest acquisitions in the history of business. EDS serviced GM’s data and information technology needs worldwide and continued to grow its own business with other customers. GM divested EDS in 1996 to focus more intensely on the core worldwide automotive business.
