Students in GM’s Global Design Intern Program - whose hometowns range from Detroit to Shanghai to New Delhi – designed vehicles to meet the needs of emerging markets in the year 2020. The six teams were made up of graphic designers, creative designers and sculptors, engineers, animators and color and trim workers. Each week, the teams had a certain goal or milestone to achieve and at the end of the summer program, they showed their designs to GM executives. Will the students' work become the next big thing in their emerging markets?
The interns aren't the only ones getting an education. GM got to work with and develop some bright young minds and learn the students' thoughts on the future of transportation. These students may very well be the ones making these cars in the year 2020.
