Daytona Champion
In 1962, Glenn "Fireball" Roberts won everything at the Daytona Speedway. He drove a black and gold Pontiac prepared by Smokey Yunick. The local Pontiac Dealer, Frank Woods, as I recall, had in stock some 1962 Pontiacs painted black and gold and the emblems (very similar to the Grand Prix emblems) said "Daytona Champion".
My wife worked at GMAC and we were driving a 1957 Chevy. We decided to drive down to Frank Woods and have a look. I was pretty confident that I could persuade her to purchase us one of these cars, as she was a big Fireball Roberts fan. Needless to say we drove away in one of these Black and Gold Beauties. Unfortunately in our moving around the pictures of this car have been lost or misplaced. Wish I still had both of those cars.
