Creativity with No Age Limits
“We tend to forget that it is young people who hold the key of change, of future ideas and trends. Initiatives such as “Young? Creative? Chevrolet!” help us stay connected with the real world. The growing interest and the great work submitted…make me confident…we will be able to find even more concrete applications for the very interesting propositions the young guys will put forward.”
- Wayne Brannon, Executive Director Chevrolet Europe
March 2007 saw the first launch of the Young? Creative? Chevrolet! (YCC) contest at the Geneva Motor Show, the pan-European contest aimed at students of applied arts schools. Eight countries (Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and Turkey representing 32 schools) participated and revealed young talents among the participants in the five disciplines (Photography, Video, Interior Design, Fashion and Visual Art) covered in the contest.
Young? Creative? Chevrolet! 2007 was an opportunity for most contestants to enter a new experience and show their creativity as well as to generate professional recognition in the field of art they wish to evolve in. The contest also creates a link between the many participating schools around Europe and creates an opportunity for them to be known in other countries. Twelve months later, auto show visitors can see one of the fruits of this successful initiative. For 20-year-old Léa Schindler, winner of the Fashion discipline, whose work (Gonflé à Block') was used to dress the models at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show Chevrolet stand, Young Creative Chevrolet is more than a simple contest. "It is an immense satisfaction to see my work worn by the hostesses and I perfectly realize what an opportunity winning the 'Young? Creative? Chevrolet!' prize means for the start of my career"
Listen to Chevy spokesperson Florence Camenzind and 2007 contest winner Léa Schindler, a student at the ESMOD International Fashion School in Lyon, France, explain their experiences with “Young? Creative? Chevrolet!”.
