Seventeen colleges compete in Challenge X: a mission to modify Chevy Equinoxes into eco-friendly, fuel efficient vehicles by using advanced propulsion technologies. Beth Lowery, GM VP Environment and Energy Safety Policy discusses why GM is excited about Challenge X; Matthew Doude, Mississippi State University Team Leader describes their winning vehicle and Kent Helfrich, Software Engineering GM Design Director explains the great outcomes.

GM joined with the U.S. Department of Energy as lead sponsors of Challenge X: Crossover to Sustainable Mobility, a four-year university student engineering competition in which student teams were challenged to re-engineer a Chevrolet Equinox to minimize the vehicle’s fuel consumption, emissions, and greenhouse gasses while maintaining or exceeding its utility and performance.
