The founding of Pakistan as an independent state in 1947 is credited to Mohammad Ali Jinnah. He was the country's first Governal General and owned two cars - a Chevrolet and a Cadillac. The Cadillac is on display at the Mohatta Museum in Karachi, Pakistan. This gives Chevrolet and Cadillac the history, honour and prestige that no other brand can claim in this country.

The exchange of 1947 correspondence about purchasing the Cadillac limousine between Ambassador Ispahani (from the Pakistan Embassy in Washington D.C) and Governor General Jinnah is covered in detail in the book M.A. Jinnah Ispahani Correspondence 1936-1948 edited by Z.H. Zaidi.
