Central Foundry
The Central Foundry Division traces its roots to a company called Saginaw Malleable Iron Company, founded in 1917 and bought by GM in 1919. With the unit’s product lines and volumes steadily growing from the 1920s through World War II, it was re-named Central Foundry Division in 1946 and eventually became part of the current GM Powertrain business unit in 1991.
