Cash for Clunkers
The U.S. government "Cash for Clunkers" program got myself (a former GM employee for close to 10 years) and my wife to take my 2001 Isuzu to the local Chevy dealer. We were disappointed that August 21st was the time GM Hawaii dealers were no longer taking clunkers as trade ins. My wife and I love the looks of the HHR and we both took test drives and we asked how much would the dealer give for my trade in. The dealer said $3,700. So we tried another Chevy dealer. Early in the day I went on line to www.cars.gov and my SUV was "a clunker worth $4,500." The other Chevy dealer said "no more clunkers. I said the deals end in Hawaii on Monday, August 24th.
Well, we still bought the HHR and the dealer gave us $3,750.
Sad in Hawaii,
Henry
