Cadillac Database
The accuracy of any encyclopedic reference work is a reflection of the accuracy of the inputs from the various sources whence information is gleaned. Errors, therefore, are inevitable. For increased accuracy and completeness, users who have a particular interest in Cadillac and LaSalle automobiles may wish to double check facts and photo IDs against the Cadillac Database of the Cadillac & LaSalle Club, Inc. (CLC).
The Cadillac Database is an electronic record of 100 years of Cadillac styling and production; it concentrates in one place, for convenient, free reference, thousands of facts, figures, photos and tidbits about GM's premiere marque gleaned over the last half-century by CLC member, Yann Saunders, whose interest in Cadillac history was sparked off, at Christmas, 1955, by a colorful magazine advertisement for the 1956 Cadillac Sedan de Ville.
The substance (text and illustrations) of the Cadillac Database is drawn from a multitude of books, magazines and press cuttings, as well as from GM's own publications relating to Cadillac and La Salle automobiles that Yann accumulated over the past half century. They have been compiled into this vast, free reference work intended for hobbyists, collectors and admirers of Cadillac and La Salle automobiles.
Yann began his compilation in the late 80s and published the first draft, on-line, in May, 1997. In 1999, He donated it to the Cadillac & LaSalle Club, Inc., of which he has been a regular member since 1972. He retains responsibility for additions, modifications and corrections. You will find the choice of text and photos illustrating the first 100 years of Cadillac production to be quite representative.
Although not ALL Cadillac and LaSalle models currently are shown, at last count the Database comprised some 8500 screen pages and 32,000 illustrations…more, probably, than in ALL Cadillac books published to date!
