AUTOBOTS at the Chicago Auto Show - 2009
Visitors to the Chevrolet display at the February 2009 Chicago Auto Show were be treated to an out-of-this-world vehicle display – the automotive stars from the upcoming DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures release, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Five Chevrolet-based characters – including four all-new characters – are featured in the sequel movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, presented by Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures.
The four new movie characters are:
- SIDESWIPE, a stylized Corvette vision concept vehicle
- SKIDS and MUDFLAP, – twin AUTOBOTS® based on Chevrolet’s Beat and Trax mini-car concepts
- JOLT, an AUTOBOT® based on Chevrolet’s upcoming Volt extended-range electric vehicle
BUMBLEBEE, the heroic AUTOBOT® based on Chevrolet’s Camaro concept from the first Transformers movie, returns with a high-performance attitude.
Directed by Michael Bay, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen sees the AUTOBOTS® confront a new threat from DECEPTICONS® bent on avenging their earlier defeat on Earth. The new AUTOBOT® characters in their current Chevrolet-based form square off against new, tougher foes determined to rule the universe
Designer and sculptor DeWaldt Hicks, along with mold maker James Rothrock, spent much of the eve of the 2009 Chicago Auto Show press days assembling the clanking and whirring 18-foot-tall AUTOBOT® BUMBLEBEE in the General Motors Chevrolet exhibit. The BUMBLEBEE replica is from the first movie; for the sequel, BUMBLEBEE is a bit more bulked up, and the Camaro form is based on the 2010 production Camaro rather than the prototype.
The colorful cars and an 18-foot-tall giant robot were a hit with kids and movie fans alike.
