My grandfather came to work at Oldsmobile in the late 1920's from Leland, Michigan. He worked there until he retired. My mother also worked at Oldsmobile, Building 70 until she retired. I worked at the same building my mother did for 3 years until I transferred to another local division. I have now retired. My daughter worked where I did as a summer vacation replacement for several summers until she graduated from college.
My grandfather and mother have now passed away. There was a lot of longevity at Oldsmobile with my family. Oldsmobile was what brought our family here, and encouraged us to continue to stay. We were fortunate to have a place such as it to work at and provide for the family.
Note: Building 60 (Lansing, MI) was the Oldsmobile Administration building from 1930 (construction began in 1929) until 1966. Building 70 (Lansing, MI) was the Administration building from 1966 until Olds headquarters moved to the Renaissance Center in Detroit.
