2002, Daewoo is in the Fold

GM acquired the bulk of Korean automaker Daewoo Motor’s automotive assets and created a new company called GM Daewoo Auto & Technology (GMDAT).

Prior to GM's acquisition, Daewoo had made dramatic strides forward as an auto manufacturer. It introduced its first ever exclusive designs in the late 1990s and was selling these cars in the United States and many other markets.
GMDAT was quickly integrated into GM's global product development organization. GMDAT played a key role in the development of smaller GM vehicles such as Chevrolet Aveo, Cruze and Spark and the Opel Antara/Saturn Vue.
