GM’s AUTOnomy concept vehicle, unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, demonstrated the first combination of fuel cell propulsion with "drive-by-wire" technology to allow steering, braking, and other vehicle systems to be controlled electronically rather than mechanically. GM filed for a total of 24 patents related to new technology incorporated in AUTOnomy.
