The 1998 Pontiac Montana Thunder Concept Vehicle was introduced at the 1998 Detroit Auto Show and was part minivan and part sport utility vehicle. A 225 horsepower, 4.0 liter, V6 engine with Ram Air induction powered the Thunder.
The Thunder featured front and rear activity lamps, a built-in bike rack for the tailgate, a pop-out trailer hitch, a gauge cluster that tilted with the steering wheel, a removable center console with portable TV set, mesh see-through seat upholstery, power lift gate, dual power sliding doors, and 18-inch cast aluminum wheels. The top rack was equipped with access lights for safer loading and unloading of equipment at night.
Thunder was a performance vehicle that delivered both high power and low emissions.
