I would like to introduce everyone to two of the three joy's of my life. The first is my wife Vickie, and the second, is our 1997 FAIRWAY GREEN CORVETTE. The third joy, is his older brother, our "63 dual top white roadster. Our '97 has the six speed manual transmission, which less than 29% were so blessed to have. Our '97 also comes equipped with the two removable roof option (which he will remind you that only 415 others had). I believe the most attractive feature is the color. With only 155, '97 Corvettes sporting that brilliant metallic green color, it never fails to draw attention whenever we travel. The question that is most often asked of us is, "That's not a factory color, is it?" Honestly, it is.
I believe that Idaho, is the only state in the nation that has their own Corvette license plate, and it's legal !!!
My wife and I have been proud members of Valley Corvettes, here in Boise, Idaho since 2000, where I might add, we have just concluded another successful Vette Fest. Thank you to Vince Perriello for being our guest speaker this year. And thanks to the over 140 Corvettes that came from as far away as Southern California, Colorado, Utah, Montana, and Alaska.
Vickie and I have been married for 28 years. We have two sons, Kristopher, and Richard, and a daughter, Brandi. We are also blessed to have two beautiful granddaughters. The youngest, at seven months old, already having had her first Corvette experience. She was picked up from her dad's house in the '63 on my way home from from one of many car shows we attend here in Boise. Needless to say, she didn't sleep at all on the ride home.
I have been a Corvette admirer since I was a young man, but had to put the dream on hold while my wife and I raised our family. We became owners of our first Corvette in 2000, with the purchase of our '63. In the Spring of 2007, I jokingly asked my wife, what she thought of the idea of us getting a second, newer Corvette. Her reply was "Only if it is Green". Lucky me, and unknown to her, I had already been shopping for, and had located this car in Phoenix, Arizona. One week, and one flight later we were on our way home with our new Green Dream. The reason that I chose this peticular car was the fact that there were only 9752 Corvettes built in 1997 (very limited production), and only 155 green ones. Besides, Green is my favorite color.
We are both honored and excited to be chosen to participate in this historic event. We look forward to the day we start the journey East from Boise to join up with everyone else in Bowling Green.

Note: 155 stock 1997 Corvettes were painted Fairway Green. 223 Corvettes were painted Fairway Green in 1998.
When GM celebrates the beginning of its next 100 years on September 16, 2008, 55 Corvettes will be on display outside its World Headquarters at Detroit’s Renaissance Center. The Corvettes are in fact the Historic Motorama II, a caravan from the National Corvette Museum (NCM) which is comprised of one example from each of the 55 years of Corvette production. The caravan will depart from the National Corvette Museum on September 10th with stops along the way. People attending the GMnext Day activities on September 16th will be able to view the Corvettes before and after the official program.
