The 1995 Oldsmobile Antares concept car was named after the brightest star in the Southern Hemisphere and made its debut at the 1995 Detroit Auto Show. Taking its styling cues from the recently introduced Aurora, Antares was a preview of the 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue production model, which was unveiled at the 1996 Detroit and Los Angeles shows as the replacement for the Cutlass Supreme.

Antares was the first Oldsmobile to wear the new Oldsmobile logo. It was 17-inches shorter than the Aurora, but had the same 113.5-inch wheelbase. Antares was painted a vibrant champagne blue and had sculptured, 6-spoke, 18-inch aluminum wheels.

Inside, designers used brushed metal for controls, switches and dash faceplates. The safety belt system was integrated neatly with the seat. The console contained a pop-out Guidestar navigation system.

AutoWeek magazine awarded the Oldsmobile Antares with the “Best Concept Car” award at the 1995 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
