Personal story and photograph submitted by owner Larry Burton - courtesy of the National Corvette Museum website - for participation in the National Corvette Museum 2008 Historic Motorama II.

1988 Convertible, this is my 2nd Corvette. My Corvette Fever started as a kid when I saw my first one at a neighbor's house. It was a 1958 Convertible (traditional White & Red). From that day I knew I would always be a True Corvette Fan. My 1st Corvette was a 1965 Milano Red Convertible with White Interior, 327/350HP. That is were the unique part of the story for my 1988 comes into play. I bought the 1965 from my cousin when he got married and I had to sell it when I got married and started a family.

Difficult to justify a two seat car after you have little ones. So several years later and kids grown up, it was time to look for a Corvette. At the same time the same cousin was wanting a newer Corvette and trying to sell the 1988. Now you know the rest of the story. About 14 years ago at a National Corvettte Museum (NCM) function, he found what he wanted and I drove the 1988 home. Larry & Jenny Burton have been the proud owners for over 14 years and enjoy car shows and NCM functions all year. It will be easy to spot on the road, license plate reads "VET LVR". It is 20 years old this year, but it is nice to have the Pink Slip. See everybody at the Historic Motorama II.

When GM celebrates the beginning of its next 100 years on September 16, 2008, 55 Corvettes will be on display outside its World Headquarters at Detroit’s Renaissance Center. The Corvettes are in fact the Historic Motorama II, a caravan from the National Corvette Museum (NCM) which is comprised of one example from each of the 55 years of Corvette production. The caravan will depart from the National Corvette Museum on September 10th with stops along the way. People attending the GMnext Day activities on September 16th will be able to view the Corvettes before and after the official program.
