1987 Corvette Geneve Concept
Written by Bill Bowman
The 1987 Corvette Geneve Concept was built on a stock 1987 Corvette chassis by ASC Inc. (Southgate, Michigan). Outside, the Geneve was reminiscent of the Corvette Indy, particularly its low, gently curved nose. It sported two rear spoilers, one above and one below the tail, and flush-mounted quad taillights. A third stoplight utilizing LEDs was mounted centrally in the thin-section spoiler. Race inspired rocker panel skirts swept around the nose and tail, while door handles blended neatly into body moldings. A black top stowed beneath a traditional Corvette style hard tonneau behind the cockpit.
Steering wheel, instrument panel and console were all covered with black hide. So, too, were the sculptured seats with integral hoop head restraints and "Geneve" written in red on the upper backrests.
Mechanically, the Geneve was 1987 Corvette. Power was supplied by the aluminum head, 230 horsepower version of the 5.7 liter Corvette V8 with Tuned Port Injection. Transmission was the four-speed overdrive automatic. Kelsey-Hayes supplied the 17-inch aluminum wheels and Goodyear provided the Eagle GT radials. Bosch anti-lock brakes were used and the car was equipped with the GM “pass-key” anti-theft system.
