GM opened its World of Motion Exhibit at Walt Disney World’s Epcot Center. The exhibit drew more than a million visitors in its first year alone and was later transformed into the current Test Track exhibit.

The World of Motion opened at EPCOT’s Transportation pavilion on October 1, 1982 and closed January 2, 1996. Using the same ride building, the Test Track, a high speed simulate test track thrill ride, opened March 17, 1999 after various delays. Test Track, a partnership between Disney Imagineering and General Motors Engineering, was one of the most anticipated rides in Walt Disney World’s history.
