As an avid car person my entire life and owner of many vehicles, I own a 1971 Pontiac Lemans Sport Convertible. This is my first car having owned it since I was 14. The history on this car, was it was ordered by a good friend of mine in 1970 as his drive and by vehicle because his wife wanted a convertible. I helped spec this car out when I was 12 years old. After they owned the car for 2 years they were putting the car up for sale and I talked my parents into buying the car since it was a fun car.
When I turned 25 my father agreed to change the title to my name. In 1997 I decided the paint and Michigan winters had started to take a toll on the car, and I started the restoration of the vehicle. After about four years I finished the restoration of the Pontiac. My LeMans Sport still has the original interior, which is white/ivory....
In 1971, Pontiac made about 3,000 Pontiac LeMans Sport Convertibles, the second from the last year that Pontiac made mid-size convertibles. This was the last of the GM A body convertibles. The GM mid-size convertible was the last of the mass produced "family" and "muscle cars" produced due to emission and insurance issues...
This Pontiac was delivered to the Fisher Body factory in Pontiac as an :"executive" program evaluation vehicle. It has been in my family since 1973, purchased form the executive who drove the car for two years.. This car has always been titled in Michigan. The car has just over 53,000 original miles on it. It was totally restored from 1998-2001.
