1969 Pontiac LeMans

I am a GM salary employee at the Orion Assembly Center....
This car, in the year 1969, brings many memories to me as this was the year that I returned from military service after being drafted. In addition, I started college, reunited with my wife when I returned, conceived my first child and restart my life.
I was then 22 years old and the world was a very different place then I had left. It was a very stressful time to choose my career and goals for the future.
I really love my 1969 LeMans because it reminds me of the times that challenged my ability to make the right decisions in life and a turning point into the future.
Although I also have a Corvette, my passion is for my LeMans. It has the sound and feel of those muscle cars that only those of my age (61) can ever understand and appreciate.
I was one of the originals who cruised Woodward in the early 60's, toured the popular stops, drag raced and just had fun.
The Woodward cruise means a lot to me in terms of memories, growing up, and learning to appreciate a time and era that must be remembered to our future generation.
I am so very proud to be an owner of part of GM history. I draw smiles in any event, just cruising or getting positive comments when I fill gas. I love to share the passion of those times in history with my car. When I drive it, it makes me feel warm inside and gives pleasure to those who view it....
GM’s Century Cruise pays tribute to GM’s past and the passion owners have for their vehicles. On Saturday, August 16, 2008 this vehicle and more than 100 other classic GM vehicles will cruise from the GM Global Headquarters at the Renaissance Center up Woodward Avenue to the heart of the Woodward Dream Cruise in Royal Oak and the surrounding suburbs. One of these vehicles will be crowned “top cruiser” based on a text voting campaign.
