People often ask me, why did you buy a car that was as old as you are instead of a new sports car? I reply...DUH! Then, they ask me if they can go for a ride. Go figure. Granted, I own a car that was manufactured the year I was born and man, was 1967 a good year. When I look and drive this wonderful icon, it makes me feel like I was a part of that muscle car era. The styling is a classic and no matter where you go every one knows what car it is because the 1967 435hp tri power big block was the big dog on the block to beat. The sounds that roar out of the side pipes could be best understood by those who ride Harley Davidson motorcycles. It is just plain cool. Yeah, Scarlet...that’s the name of my car, may not handle like the new Corvettes and have all cool accessories like air conditioning, but to me she’s all about character, styling and not to leave out Horse Power.
GM’s Century Cruise pays tribute to GM’s past and the passion owners have for their vehicles. On Saturday, August 16, 2008 this vehicle and more than 100 other classic GM vehicles will cruise from the GM Global Headquarters at the Renaissance Center up Woodward Avenue to the heart of the Woodward Dream Cruise in Royal Oak and the surrounding suburbs. One of these vehicles will be crowned “top cruiser” based on a text voting campaign.
