My GM vehicle, a 1966 Chevy II Nova, is about family and friends. I picked up the car in pieces about 9-10 years ago. It was a family project to get the car back on the road. My dad, who has had a project car for as long as I can remember (currently has a 1948 Chevy), led the way. My husband and I spent many weekends in the garage with my dad putting the car back together. Other family members and friends helped along the way.
Many of the original parts were used, but some changes were made as well. It now runs a 355 CID engine and a turbo 350 transmission. Other changes include a Heidt’s subframe, multi-leaf rear springs, power steering and brakes, and ceramic coated exhaust. The new color is a Chevy Indigo Blue. We are proud to say that it passes the NSRA 23 inspection.
Summer days are filled with cruising and car shows. We have met many interesting people along the way.
GM’s Century Cruise pays tribute to GM’s past and the passion owners have for their vehicles. On Saturday, August 16, 2008 this vehicle and more than 100 other classic GM vehicles will cruise from the GM Global Headquarters at the Renaissance Center up Woodward Avenue to the heart of the Woodward Dream Cruise in Royal Oak and the surrounding suburbs. One of these vehicles will be crowned “top cruiser” based on a text voting campaign.
