1962 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

I have always been car crazy. Even though I had never ridden in a Corvette, I bought my 1st one in 1974 from a local Chevrolet dealer, who was purchasing older Vettes in California and bringing them back to Illinois to sell. It is a 1962 white, fuel injected, with 2 tops, but not original engine.
In 1975, I joined National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS) and learned a great deal about Vettes, thus inspiring me to buy an original 30,000 mile red 1962 Vette in 1976. It earned a Top Flight & Bloomington Gold in 1980. I have driven it only 8,000 miles in 32 years and hope it has 2,000 miles left in it to make the Historic Motorama II drive.
Having two 1962 Vettes, one for "go" and one for "show", is the best of both worlds.
In November 1998, I took Museum delivery of a 1999 Vette and became lifetime member #446. I was honored in 2002 to be selected for the Historic Motorama I with my 1981 Vette that has given me wonderful memories.
Am looking forward to the 100th Anniversary with more memories to come.
When GM celebrates the beginning of its next 100 years on September 16, 2008, 55 Corvettes will be on display outside its World Headquarters at Detroit’s Renaissance Center. The Corvettes are in fact the Historic Motorama II, a caravan from the National Corvette Museum (NCM) which is comprised of one example from each of the 55 years of Corvette production. The caravan will depart from the National Corvette Museum on September 10th with stops along the way. People attending the GMnext Day activities on September 16th will be able to view the Corvettes before and after the official program.
Look at the next Historic Motorama II Corvette participant, representing a cross-section of Corvette enthusiasts from across the country.
