1960 Cadillac Coupe de Ville
Personal story and photograph submitted by owner Louis Meyers
for participation in the the 2008 GM Century Cruise
...My 1960 Coupe de Ville...was a rare color named #29 Vegas Turquoise and was metallic. Not too many were ordered under this color and so when I purchased this vehicle from California - I thought that it was a custom paint, but research ended up showing me that this was the original color...
The passion for the car is driven from the fact that I was allowed to drive the old family 1960 Fleetwood when I was in 10th grade and the experience of driving that car around Michigan continued until my 2nd year at college. It was then that I had to let go of the car as Michigan salt had taken a toll on the car. I vowed that one day I would come across such a car minus the rust ! That was 6 yrs ago.
GM’s Century Cruise pays tribute to GM’s past and the passion owners have for their vehicles. On Saturday, August 16, 2008 this vehicle and more than 100 other classic GM vehicles will cruise from the GM Global Headquarters at the Renaissance Center up Woodward Avenue to the heart of the Woodward Dream Cruise in Royal Oak and the surrounding suburbs. One of these vehicles will be crowned “top cruiser” based on a text voting campaign.
