1957 Oldsmobile
Personal story and photograph submitted by owner John Hughes

When i was very young I would wait for the new GM vehicles to be released and my favorite was always the Oldsmobile. When I first saw the 1957 Olds, I knew I would own one some day. The day didn't come until 1987 when I found one.
The car was owned by the original owners grandson and had 37,000 original miles. I bought it and have enjoyed it for over 20 years. The car has been trouble free and we drive it only during the summer months. I have ridden in many 50's cars and none of them ride or perform like my Olds.
I retired from Powertrain after 40 years and will always be a GM man.
GM’s Century Cruise pays tribute to GM’s past and the passion owners have for their vehicles. On Saturday, August 16, 2008 this vehicle and more than 100 other classic GM vehicles will cruise from the GM Global Headquarters at the Renaissance Center up Woodward Avenue to the heart of the Woodward Dream Cruise in Royal Oak and the surrounding suburbs. One of these vehicles will be crowned “top cruiser” based on a text voting campaign.
