1956 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
Personal story and photograph submitted by owners Scott & Kay Sinclair - courtesy of the National Corvette Museum - website for participation in the National Corvette Museum 2008 Historic Motorama II.
My wife Kay and I reside in Bolton, Ontario, Canada just north of Toronto. We have two children, Julia, 28, and Joe, 26, who have travelled extensively with us on Corvette Road Tours. Julia has two children Jenna, two years, and Clayton born in June, 2008. Our daughter met her husband on the 1995 NCRS Road Tour to Steamboat Springs, Colorado. So, we are truly a Corvette family.
We purchased our first Corvette in 1978. It's a red 1956, which still resides with our family. We participated in the 2002 Historic Motorama with old red. This time we thought that our 56 TWIN deserved a chance for the Historic Motorama II tour. She is Black with a red interior and a single 4 barrel carburetor.
Kay and I both judge in the NCRS (National Corvette Restorers Society), and we both have received the NCRS Duntov Mark of Excellence Award for Corvettes we have restored. We have participated in twenty NCRS National conventions, as well as many Regional and Chapter events. We are founding members of the NCM (National Corvette Museum) joining in January 1990, and we are Lifetime members since 2002.
We think it is a great honor to participate in our Second Motorama.
When GM celebrates the beginning of its next 100 years on September 16, 2008, 55 Corvettes will be on display outside its World Headquarters at Detroit’s Renaissance Center. The Corvettes are in fact the Historic Motorama II, a caravan from the National Corvette Museum (NCM) which is comprised of one example from each of the 55 years of Corvette production. The caravan will depart from the National Corvette Museum on September 10th with stops along the way. People attending the GMnext Day activities on September 16th will be able to view the Corvettes before and after the official program.
