Why am I passionate about my GM vehicle ? Well until I found it I think I was a just a regular workaday type of guy. Now, because of some passionate designers and other hard workers at GM from the past, I am forced to try and do something big, thanks a lot guys I already had enough on my plate.
Here is a little bit of background info on me. I have been working in Detroit the past 18 years in machine repair for the USPS. Before that, I ran my own home remodeling company up here. I grew up dirt poor in a big family in Pennsylvania and during the 60's and 70's as a kid I used to play in junk yards in those cool classic cars and that is when I fell in love with them and great songs and Detroit. I married a wonderful woman from Michigan and moved here in 1984 to get an automotive job, but that job never happened. I was visiting Pennsylvania back in 2001 and I stumbled onto and bought an original '56 Cadillac back there (that is a story also!). This rekindled my love for those cool classic cars, great songs and Detroit. Then on a road trip out to Oklahoma in 2002 the ah ha! moment hit me and the songs and ideas just started coming like crazy. Then I started to design and make very special and expensive outfits to perform in. Talk about your GM and Detroit influence!
So now the "Duke of Wheels and the Lost Days Band" would really like to add to the enjoyment of the people at car shows/meets, oldies events, fairs, museums, etc. We are like no other band that you have ever seen and exactly perfect for these and other events. (I was recently used to promote a special 50's five sports car stamp release on August 20, 2005 at the Michigan State Fair grounds, and scheduled to help with the 2008 Tailfins and Chrome stamp release...
GM’s Century Cruise pays tribute to GM’s past and the passion owners have for their vehicles. On Saturday, August 16, 2008 this vehicle and more than 100 other classic GM vehicles will cruise from the GM Global Headquarters at the Renaissance Center up Woodward Avenue to the heart of the Woodward Dream Cruise in Royal Oak and the surrounding suburbs. One of these vehicles will be crowned “top cruiser” based on a text voting campaign.
