The General Motors Building was designed by Albert Kahn and completed in 1923. It is located at 3044 West Grand Boulevard and it occupies the block bounded by Cass, Milwaukee, Second and West Grand Boulevard in Detroit's New Center area. In 1996, GM purchased the Renaissance Center, which is on the Detroit River, and began moving their offices there. The State of Michigan took over the GM building and renamed it Cadillac Place, honoring Antoine de La Mothe Cadillac, founder of the city of Detroit.
